PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY

Routine cleanings, x-rays, and exams are critical for catching little problems before they become big problems.  Our hygienists will leave your teeth feeling wonderfully clean.  We provide fluoride treatments for the prevention of tooth decay and take radiographs yearly to catch cavities white they are small and can be fixed with simple fillings.  We can also fabricate sports mouthguards for the prevention of dental trauma.

restorative dentistry

When teeth develop decay, it must be removed from the tooth and replaced with a restorative material.  We offer both tooth colored and amalgam fillings for small cavities.  Occasionally, a cavity or fracture will be large enough to require a crown, which fully covers the tooth and prevents further damage.

cosmetic dentistry

Oftentimes teeth become crooked, stained, and worn as we age.  Our multi-faceted approach to this problem involves whitening, composite restorations, and crowns or veneers.  We also work closely with specialists in orthodontics to reposition teeth for the most cosmetic result when appropriate.

Our approach to whitening is the fabrication of custom bleaching trays, with nighttime bleach wear until the desired shade is reached.  Once teeth are an appropriate shade, their appearance and form can be restored with veneers or crowns.

Replacement of missing teeth

As teeth are lost, effects can be felt in speech, chewing and eating, and appearance.  Timely replacement of lost teeth prevents damaging changes to one's dentition.  Missing teeth can be replaced via Implant restorations, Bridges, or Dentures (both removable or complete).  We provide all of these services; come in for a consult to see which option is right for you.

periodontal therapy

Periodontal therapy is a very common condition in adults.  It is the progressive loss of the supporting structures of the teeth: the bone, ligament, and gums.  It is a disease driven by the presence of bacterial plaque present between the gums and roots of teeth and is made worse by poor fitting crowns and fillings and the presence of hard calculus around the teeth.  The first line of treatment for periodontal disease is scaling and root planning, also known as a deep cleaning.  This is not a preventive measure, but a treatment designed to clean the roots of calculus and bacteria.  This allows the gums to attach to the teeth in a healthy manner and eliminates the deep pockets that previously harbored bacteria.  Occasionally, scaling and root planning will be followed by a referral to a periodontist for more advanced secondary treatment.
